Accountability Check-In #2

This week was not great. Things got away from me. Although I’m posting this a little bit late, the numbers are up to date as of Sunday, August 29th.

project 1

This week I listened to a podcast episode and took some notes, which is the majority of the word count. I also reorganized my outline a bit. It was pretty straightforward. Next I’m planning to read some research papers and take notes on those, keeping an eye out for interesting studies and statistics which might be worth referencing in the book. I was initially going to start with the earliest sources, but I think I will start with the most recent sources first as they will probably be most applicable to today’s society. Then I’ll work my way backwards. This will also give me a chance to see which sources are referenced in these more recent articles, and then I can explore those as well.

project 2

Project 2 is still going slower, and I couldn’t quite reach my word count goal this week. To populate my outline, I find that I’m asking a lot of “Why?” questions: Why is does the setting include this? Why does the main character want to do this? Why don’t the other characters do this? It is likely that readers would ask the same sorts of questions as they are reading, so I want to make sure that these questions are answered, or at least that I can make the promise of answering them in future chapters as the story unfolds.
