… And we’re back! I may have hit a slump last week, but today I managed to catch up and exceed the weekly goal for Project 1, and I even started a new project (which may not have been wise given that I didn’t make any progress on Project 2, but oh well).
I kind of want to start giving my projects nicknames, especially since “non-fiction lifestyle book” is a bit of a mouthful and project numbers are rather dull. Keep an eye out for some fun names for the projects next week.
projects in progress
project | weekly goal | initial | word count | cumulative |
---|---|---|---|---|
1. non-fiction lifestyle book | 1000 | 3586 | 2873 | 3586 |
2. futuristic mystery novel | 500 | 1665 | 0 | 1665 |
3. relationship short story | N/A | 0 | 671 | 671 |
project 1
I’ve almost doubled my cumulative word count compared to last week! I realized that it really isn’t that hard to meet the word count in the research phase. Reading one research article and taking notes on it brings me far above my goal, and one article per week is certainly manageable. Granted, my total word count will probably reach a sharp decline once I transition from research to writing, but I’ll cross that bridge once I get to it.
project 2
I was feeling particularly inspired this morning so I actually worked on a short story instead of Project 2. I’ll make up for it next week.
project 3
I had a conversation with a family member this morning and it left my emotions running high, so I took the opportunity to let the words flow. I have 671 words so far. I don’t know that it will strictly be a short story as there isn’t a whole lot of plot going on right now, so it may end up being more of a creative essay. We shall see. Project 1 is still my priority, but I might enjoy working on a smaller project that I can realistically complete in a month or so. I may even share it on the blog once it is done.
